Marble
Countertops

The stone of palaces, sculptures, and timeless interiors. Marble rewards those who understand its nature.

Why Marble

Key Benefits

Unmatched Natural Beauty

Veining, translucency, and depth that no engineered product has successfully replicated. Every slab is entirely unique.

Naturally Cool Surface

Marble stays cool to the touch — the preferred surface for baking and pastry work for centuries.

Timeless Design Appeal

Used in fine architecture for over 2,000 years. Marble transcends design trends and consistently appeals to buyers.

Fireplace Applications

Natural beauty and heat tolerance make marble an exceptional choice for fireplace surrounds and hearths.

Develops a Patina

Over time, marble develops a soft, lived-in quality. Many homeowners find the aged character more beautiful than the original finish.

Unique Every Slab

No two marble slabs share the same veining pattern. Your countertop will be one of a kind.

Stone Styles

Stone Styles & Appearances

Marble is a natural stone — every slab is unique. The following describe common appearance families. Actual slabs vary significantly in background color, veining density, and movement. We strongly encourage customers to select their specific slab in person before fabrication begins.

Calacatta — White with Bold Veining

Calacatta marbles feature bright white backgrounds with dramatic, bold veining in gold, gray, or warm brown. Among the most sought-after marble families for luxury kitchens. Calacatta Gold, Calacatta Borghini, and Calacatta Michelangelo are well-known examples.

Slabs vary significantly — in-person selection is essential for Calacatta.
Statuario — White with Gray Veining

Statuario marble features a bright white background with bold gray veining and strong movement. Slightly more dramatic than Carrara. Statuario Venato and Statuario Extra are common grades.

Slabs vary — select in person.
Carrara — White with Soft Gray

Carrara is the most widely available white marble. Soft gray veining on a white or blue-gray background. More subtle movement than Calacatta or Statuario. A classic choice for bathrooms and traditional kitchens.

Slabs vary — select in person.
Dark and Dramatic

Nero Marquina (black with white veining), Portoro (black with gold veining), and Emperador Dark (brown with cream veining) offer striking contrast. Typically used for islands, vanities, or feature applications.

Slabs vary — select in person.
Warm and Cream Tones

Crema Marfil, Botticino, and Beige Marble offer warm cream and beige backgrounds with subtle veining. Complement warm wood cabinetry and traditional kitchen styles.

Slabs vary — select in person.

Natural marble slabs vary significantly from sample to sample. Marble is susceptible to etching from acidic substances and requires more care than granite or quartzite. We recommend discussing your specific use case with our team before selecting marble for a kitchen application.

Care & Maintenance

Keeping It Beautiful

1

Seal Every 6–12 Months

Marble is porous and requires frequent sealing in kitchen applications. Use a penetrating impregnator sealer specifically formulated for marble. Sealing does not prevent etching — it reduces staining.

2

Avoid Acidic Substances

Lemon juice, vinegar, wine, and many common cleaners will etch marble on contact. Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners. Blot spills immediately — do not wipe.

3

Professional Restoration

Etching (dull spots from acid contact) can be removed through professional honing and polishing. Many owners choose a honed finish from the start — it shows etching less visibly than a polished surface.

Questions

Common Questions

Is marble practical for kitchen countertops?

Marble can be used in kitchens but requires more care than granite or quartz. It is susceptible to etching from acidic substances and staining if not properly sealed and maintained. Many homeowners use marble for islands or baking stations while choosing a more durable material for perimeter counters.

What is etching on marble?

Etching occurs when acidic substances chemically react with the calcium carbonate in the stone, creating dull spots or rings. Etching is a surface change — it cannot be cleaned away and requires professional honing to remove.

What is the difference between honed and polished marble?

Polished marble has a high-gloss reflective finish. Honed marble has a matte, smooth finish that shows etching less visibly — often preferred for kitchen applications where acid exposure is more likely.

Can marble be used in bathrooms?

Yes. Bathrooms are one of the best applications for marble. The lower-traffic environment and reduced exposure to acidic substances make marble more practical than in kitchens.

What does marble countertop installation cost?

Marble pricing varies by origin and rarity. Common marbles start around $60–$90 per square foot installed. Rare imported stones can reach $200+. Contact us for a project-specific estimate.
